Summer Camps

Fun, friends, and new experiences at two summer camps for children and young adults.

Summer’s Excellent Adventures Camp: June 11 – July 6 (no camp on July 4th)

A month-long inclusive summer camp for school-age children, with and without disabilities, to learn, play, and laugh together in an environment that fosters support and acceptance.

A recreation-based, interactive summer camp for school-age children of all abilities. Campers will come together to create and maintain meaningful, positive friendships through increased pro-social interactions and opportunities to learn together in a variety of fun, structured classroom and community-based summer activities. Campers will:

· Develop self-confidence
· Increase social skills and develop friendships
· Learn to channel energy constructively
· Be less socially isolated
· Improve transitions between activities/environments
· Increase expressive language and independence skills

Each day, campers are paired with peer models and participate in fun-filled field trips, activities, arts and crafts projects, social stories, cooperative and non-competitive games in a safe, structured environment.

This program is for school-age campers who may need more behavioral and sensory supports than a typical summer camp can provide. All campers must be potty trained, ambulatory, and able to cooperate and stay safe in a 1:8 teacher-to-student ratio.

Does your child…

Need a summer camp with lower teacher-to-camper ratios and extra support?

Want to make new friends while participating in fun-filled field trips, art projects, structured activities, cooperative games, and more?

Have social or language delays, behavioral or sensory needs that prevent them from participating in traditional summer camps?

Our weekly, theme-based summer camps provided in a safe, structured environment are designed to:

· Promote peer friendships
· Enhance language development
· Increase independence
· Develop self-confidence
· Practice social skills
· Reduce isolation

By utilizing the extra peer, sensory, and behavioral supports provided, school-aged campers with disabilities can continue to build the skills they need to eventually transition into traditional summer camp environments within the community. Campers must be able to cooperate and stay safe in a 1:5 teacher-to-camper ratio.
