"If you want to be happy for an hour, take a nap.
If you want to be happy for a day, go fishing.
If you want to be happy for a month, go on a honeymoon.
If you want to be happy for a year, inherit a fortune.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime, help children with disabilities."                                                                                                                                     -Unknown

Each year more than 350 people gave their time, talent, and energy in support of Abilities United services. Through this generous provision of personal resources, Abilities United volunteers help to fulfill Abilities United's mission to support and promote the achievements of people with developmental disabilities. Previous experience working with the developmentally disabled population is always welcome but not necessary.

If you would like to volunteer with Abilities United and work to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities please call (650) 494-0550 or e-mail. You can also submit the volunteer application form to

Abilities United, 525 East Charleston Road, Palo Alto, CA 94306 or fax it to 650-855-9710

Adults

Accompany small groups on trips into the community and assist with social and recreational activities in a service that provides day center support for our adult clients. Patient, energetic volunteers who possess a lively sense of humor and strong people skills tend to thrive in this program.

Get wet and have fun while providing swim instruction in our warm water aquatics facility. Classes are designed to promote wellness, prevention and independence for people of all ages, using exercises that increase strength, stamina and flexibility.
